حلّ الحدّ الأدنى للمعيار

من بين جميع الحلول التي تستوفي بيانات التدريب بالكامل، الحلّ الذي يملك أصغر معيار (مقياس تعقيد). هذا الحلّ يميل إلى أن يكون الأنعم والأفضل في التعميم، ويُعتبر الصياغة الرياضية لمبدأ أوكام.

Among all solutions that perfectly fit the training data, the one with the smallest norm (complexity measure). This solution tends to be the smoothest and best-generalizing, and represents a mathematical formulation of Occam's razor.
