دالة متناقصة رتيبة γ(j) تحدّ أقصى انحراف للخسارة الوسيطة عن الخسارة النهائية بعد j وحدة موارد. كلما تلاشت بسرعة أكبر، أمكن التمييز بين الإعدادات بموارد أقل.

A monotonically decreasing function γ(j) that bounds the maximum deviation of the intermediate loss from the terminal loss after j resource units. The faster it decays, the fewer resources needed to distinguish configurations.
