خلايا عصبية في القشرة البصرية تستجيب لنفس السمات الموجَّهة كالخلايا البسيطة، لكنها تتحمّل إزاحات في الموقع. ألهمت تصميم خلايا C (وحدات التجميع) في النيوكوغنيترون.

Neurons in the visual cortex that respond to the same oriented features as simple cells but tolerate shifts in position. They inspired the design of C-cells (pooling units) in the Neocognitron.
