أسلوب إحصائي لا يفترض شكلاً مُسبقاً للعلاقة بين المتغيرات (كأن تكون خطية أو تربيعية)، بل يترك البيانات تحدد الشكل بحرية تامة. الشبكات العصبية والجيران الأقرب أمثلة عليه.

A statistical approach that makes no prior assumption about the form of the relationship between variables (e.g. linear or quadratic), letting the data determine the shape freely. Neural networks and nearest neighbors are examples.
